The Sarlux IGCC Plant converts, in an environmentally friendly manner, about 142 ton/h of heavy hydrocarbons (TAR), provided by Saras refinery, into 4,5 billion kWh/year of electric energy, 185 ton/h of steam, 40.000 Nm 3/h of hydrogen, 45.000 ton/year of sulphur and 1.000 ton/year of filter cake.
Its efficiency depends largely on the close integration with the refinery, that provides - in addition to TAR – diesel oil and other hydrocarbon products, which are used in the IGCC Plant and, at the same time, uses steam and hydrogen produced by the IGCC for its own processes.
The common use of some particular units (such as water demineralisation, waste water treatment, sulphur shipment facilities) allows further optimizations for both structures.
